I was honoured to have called Ruthie a friend over the last 30 years. Tenacious and strong, Ruth was also very much a 'family' person. Demonstations supporting our farming industry, which involved interviews with Special Branch, but also visits to me in hospital, one of which involved a hand written article for a national paper.
The spelling on that one had to have a few corrections! Angela (Ruth's elder daughter) also visited which was so much appreciated.
We were proud to call Ruth a dear friend, a warm welcome always given if we dropped in to Rill, and hopefully reciprocated when Richard or Ruth called on their way through Cornwall after delivering haylage.
Ruth's legacy is her amazing family, their individual and collective achievements and I hope they'll read and appeciate just how much Ruth meant to those of us proud to call her a friend.
Her final battle was one she didn't win. And our thoughts are with Richard, Angela, Helen, Paul and Ali at this very sad time.
Until we meet again, Ruthie......
